Shaft Alignment Software

ShaftMaster is an easy to use shaft alignment software. Calculated parameters are appropriate to the goals and purposes commonly pursued while aligning the shafts in vertical and horizontal plane for newbuilded and repaired ships. The program produces the data to control alignment parameters for every stage of the alignment procedure as existing according to the technical standards prescribes and Classification Societies requirements.

Specific parameters that ShaftMaster calculates:
  • initial bearing offsets relative to the reference line;
  • bearing loads in operation;
  • stress at the stress check points;
  • thrust shaft flange loads in operation;
  • influence numbers matrix;
  • boring parameters;
  • bearing loads and tolerances during the alignment;
  • Sag and Gap at the open shaft flange connections;
  • jack correction factors and jack loads for all alignment stages;
  • Sag and Gap at the thrust shaft flange, when the assembled shaft is decoupled from the engine;
  • diagram of allowable values of Sag and Gap;
  • shaft bending parameters for all alignment stages;
  • bearing bush pressure parameters;
  • shaft alignment parameters for geometric alignment;
  • shaft alignment parameters based on measured Sag and Gap values;
  • shaft alignment parameters in reverse caclulation based on measured stress values;
  • shaft alignment parameters in reverse caclulation based on measured loads values;
  • shaft alignment parameters in reverse caclulation based on measured Sag and Gap values;
  • bearing adjustments in course of the strain gauges alignment procedure.
Calculation procedures take into account:
  • double bottom deflection variety;
  • hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on the propeller;
  • crankshaft (gear box) and bearing thermal growth;
  • bearing wear-out;
  • bearing deflectional compliance;
  • flange connection angular compliance;
  • characteristics of various shaft materials.
Advanced calculation techniques and capabilities:
  • Strain gauges alignment implements the bending stress alignment method. This function is intended for onboard bearing adjustments calculation based on values of bending stress in a fully assembled shaft. The program derives actual values of bearing offsets from the values of stress measured at stress check points. Upon completion of a strain gauges calculation ShaftMaster suggests offset adjustments that lead to proper target offsets.

  • Bush pressure calculation accounts for integrated pressure value, which renders more accurate results than it is possible with conventional models. Pressure distribution in itself can be a significant factor critical to durable troublefree operation. ShaftMaster allows creating bearing models that reflect pressure distribution resulting from a particular alignment. The values of various bush properties can be assigned to the models and saved to be reused later.
